White Tablecloth Update: BLT, db Bistro, The Forge

by Ryan @ MRPR on March 1, 2010

In fancy restaurant news, the partners behind BLT Steak are going their separate ways.   Chef Laurent Tourondel is keeping the BLT Steak at the Betsy Hotel along with a slew of other hotel-based BLTs, while business partner Jimmy Haber gets a trio of BLT Steaks (NYC, LA, DC) and BLT Fish, BLT Prime, and BLT Burger in NYC.   It seems like our local BLT got the better end of that breakup.

Meanwhile, in repackaged news, Daniel Boulud took some time during this past weekend’s South Beach Wine and Food Festival to make a big announcement: db Bistro Moderne is going to open in Met2, the glass tower smack-dab in the middle of downtown Miami.  The press is buzzing with the news but anyone who drives around downtown Miami has seen the signs for db Bistro Moderne wrapped around the construction site for the eight months or so.  Still exciting, but definitely not news.

Last but not least, Short Order serves up another scoop on The Forge, set to reopen with Dewey Losasso manning the kitchen.  The exclusive news is that it is set to reopen on March 29th.  (Put that on your food calendars along with Zuma (April 2010) and Norman’s 180 (March 2010(?)).
