November 16, 2010 Power Rankings

by Ryan @ MRPR on November 15, 2010

♦ According to the latest round of job postings on Craigslist, Stephen Starr’s new Japanese restaurant in Bal Harbour is projected to open in January 2011.  If you know any unemployed sushi chefs, check it out (according to the posting, you have to know both maki and nigiri…  FANCY!)

♦ According to Eater Miami, Jonathan Eismann is opening another pizza place, this one at the Mayfair Hotel in Coconut Grove.  In honor of a second pizza shop, I’ve come up with a slogan for him: “Better Ingredients. Better Pizza. Papa Jonathan Eismann’s.

♦ If Gigi and Red Light got a room at the Biscayne Inn and did the dirty deed, nine months later you’d have American Noodle Bar (which happens to be located at that very motel, the Biscayne Inn).  It has the grungy-yet-cool motel vibe of Red Light and the casual Asian fare (and hip design) of Gigi.  But lest you think it is derivative, it’s got its own thing going on and if you’re making your way up Biscayne, you owe it a visit.  It debuts in at # 15 in this week’s power rankings, just beneath Chowdown Grill and Gigi (it appears that we have a casual Asian bottleneck in the rankings).  Frodnesor posted his first impressions of the Noodle Bar here.
