QUICK HITS:
♦ Chef Jonathan Waxman, he of Barbuto in NYC, gave Miami.com his list of the top 10 restaurants in Miami. Setting aside his obligatory mention of Rosa Mexicano, from whom he receives a paycheck as a “culinary advisor,” his list seems credible. He includes his friend Michael Schwartz’s two local restaurants, as well as NAOE, La Camaronera, Pubbelly, The Dutch, and a few others.
♦ If you’re looking for restaurant recommendations in Miami, you’re better off heading to the local Don of food blogging, Frodnesor, who updates his list with several categories: “The Short List,” “The Not-So-Short List,” “The Long List,” “Notable Omissions,” and “Potent Potables.” Okay, I made up that last category.
♦ And lastly, while I usually stay close in proximity to Miami in these posts, I’d be remiss not to link to one of my favorite food bloggers and food photographers, Ulterior Epicure, posting about Asador Etxebarri, my favorite meal. Before I traveled to San Sebastian, Spain in 2011, Frodnesor and Chef Jeremiah both recommended Etxebarri, reassuring me that it was absolutely worth the cost of the rental car (it’s about an hour outside of San Sebastian, two hours when you inevitably get lost). They were right. And it’s always nice to relive that experience through the writing and photography of others who make it out to Basque Country to enjoy hardwood grilling at its finest.

“Potent Potables” will definitely be a category the next time the list gets updated.
Well, gosh. Thanks for the linkage, Frodnesor!
I would rent a car from Miami to eat Etxebarri again
I’m in. Meet you at the Hertz in 10 minutes.
