♦ According to Lesley Abravanel of Miami.com, Blackbrick, one of the forthcoming restaurants we are most excited for, announced that former French Laundry sommelier Rachael Lowe will be curating the restaurant’s wine selection.  Chef/owner Richard Hales is the former sommelier of Azul at the Mandarin Oriental on Brickell Key, long before he opened Sakaya Kitchen, with locations in Midtown and Downtown Miami.

♦ Two Brickell closings: the long-standing Gordon Biersch and the short-standing Hoxton.

♦ Finally, albeit not really a food event (although both Blue Collar and The Federal have graciously contributed food for the event), local arts organization Cannonball is hosting its annual I Heart Art fundraiser at the New Yorker Boutique Hotel (on 65th and Biscayne) on Saturday, November 9 from 7-10 pm.  Tickets and information: here.  There will be food, drink, music, synchronized swimming, and a cannonball diving contest for the adventurous (and waterproof) among us.
