February 25 & March 4, 2014 Quick Hits

♦ It appears that a Michael Schwartz restaurant (not to be confused with Restaurant Michael Schwartz) will be opening in Paraiso Bay, a yet unbuilt condo in the Edgewater neighborhood.  Even Benn of the Miami Herald first tweeted the scoop, which has since been retweeted by Schwartz and by Paraiso Bay.  The development’s slogan is “So Near… Yet So Far…” which also describes the opening date, given that the building is not yet a three dimensional object occupying time and space.  This is the second Schwartz restaurant that exists only in the eye of the beholder, joining a restaurant announced last March at the SLS hotel and condominium yet to be built on Brickell.

♦ The Villa at Barton G, the most recent restaurant tenant at the former Versace mansion, has rebranded (closed?) and is now known as Il Sole.  Still run by Barton G. Weiss, the new restaurant will serve Mediterranean fare until it closes and is replaced by something else.
