March 25 & April 1, 2014 Quick Hits

by Ryan @ MRPR on April 1, 2014

Sweatstock, the daylong (and nightlong) music festival hosted by Sweat Records that celebrates great local artists and a handful of out-of-towners, is going to be held on Saturday, April 19 at Sweat Records in Little Haiti.  Sweatstock is one of the better ways to spend a Saturday, and also holds the distinction of being the only thing that this blog has ever sponsored.  So come support a cool local business and local bands.

♦ Food & Wine magazine has posted its annual poll where people can vote for the “Best New Chef” in a variety of different regions.  In the Gulf Coast region, Miami is represented by Jose Mendin (whose Pubbelly restaurant first opened in November 2010) and Giorgio Rapicavoli (whose Eating House first popped up in February 2012).  Apparently “new” means “new to the editors at Food & Wine magazine,” but congratulations nonetheless to both chefs.  Vote early and often.

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so
much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something.

I think that you could do with some pics to drive
the message home a bit, but other than that, this
is great blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.
