♦ Miami Herald food critic Victoria Pesce Elliott broke the news via Twitter that Chef Allen’s, a mainstay in Aventura helmed by Allen Susser, is now closed. This was one of the longer-lasting restaurants in town, although it did undergo a re-imagining a few years back when it became a more casual “seafood bistro.”
♦ The editor of the magazine for food nerds, Art of Eating, visited Miami last week and, according to the Twitter feed, enjoyed an “excellent lunch” at Michael’s Genuine and had some “beautifully cooked” meat and fish at Sustain for dinner.
