♦ The 2011 James Beard awards were announced last night.  No Miami chefs made it past the semifinals this year.  The only nominee from South Florida was Chef Zach Bell of Cafe Boulud in West Palm Beach.  Bell was a finalist for Best Chef in the South Region but the award went to Stephen Styjewksi of Cochon in New Orleans.  Cochon’s co-owner, Donald Link, won the same award in 2007.  Imagine that, two James Beard award winners in one kitchen.  That would be like the soon-to-be-open Michy’s Genuine.  Just kidding (or am I? (okay, I am)).

♦ Remember the good old days when Jonathan Eismann and Jeffrey Chodorow were going to swap restaurants?  How’d that turn out?

♦ You have got to watch this.  And then let me know who is up for lunch on the metromover.  First course?  Shark fin soup.
