It’s no secret that this blog is a fan of Sakaya Kitchen. Hell, we named the honey-orange ribs the 2010 Dish of the Year, and the restaurant has regularly been in the top 10 of the power rankings. As we’ve announced previously, chef/owner Richard Hales has been expanding his mobile empire, but now MRPR is pleased to break the news that Sakaya Kitchen will be opening a second brick-and-mortar location, this time in the heart of Downtown Miami.
The exact location is 157 125 SE 3rd Avenue, which was the former home of a Malaysian buffet and a middling “bistro.” Hales is hard at work getting the restaurant ready for its debut, but no exact word on an opening date. When it does open, the restaurant will feature an extensive pastry selection, showcasing the talents of new addition Vanessa Paz, plus all of the favorites from Sakaya’s savory menu. Word is that they’ll also be serving Panther Coffee.
