Gigi’s Amir Ben Zion to Open Not One, But Two New Restaurants

by Ryan @ MRPR on June 8, 2012

Short Order reported this week that the previously-dubbed Gigi Village, a 7,000 square foot behemoth located in the New World Symphony’s parking garage just off Lincoln Road, would instead house a new concept called “Cooper Avenue.”  According to Short Order, not much was known about the restaurant, aside from its Facebook page and website.  “[S]till no clues as to what kind of cuisine Cooper Avenue will serve or who the chef will be,” they wrote.  Although the logo that they printed had a bunch of clues: “bakery,” “cafe,” “deli,” “restaurant,” “market,” “bar,” and “lounge.”

But here’s some news.  Amir Ben Zion, the guy behind Cooper Avenue, as well as Gigi, Bardot, Buck 15, Miss Yip, and Sra. Martinez, is also going to be opening a spot in Downtown Miami at the Met 1 condominium.  It may or may not be a second location of Cooper Avenue, as the original name of the LLC that was set up was Cooper Met 1 LLC (the link is to a PDF of an amendment to the articles of organization changing the name to the more generic Met 1 Miami Market LLC).  We’ll see what actually opens but Downtown residents are in store for something new.
