QUICK HITS:

♦ This week brings news of the untimely closing of Tudor House, the restaurant at the Dream Hotel, which will depart at the end of the summer.  The reason being given for the closure, according to an interview chef Geoffrey Zakarian gave to Short Order, is that Zakarian wanted out of a contract which limited his ability to open more restaurants in South Florida. I guess some chefs treat their contracts like their menus–they change seasonally.

♦ Mentioning the self-congratulatory, recently manufactured Eater Young Guns awards makes me want to use a young gun, old gun, any kind of gun on myself but I’ll just say that it’s nice for Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink chef de cuisine Brad Herron to get some well-deserved credit.  Congrats to Herron who is one in a line of talented young chefs to come up in chef Michael Schwartz’s restaurant (see, e.g., Simon Stojakovic, Samuel Gorenstein).  He was recently named one of 16 “young guns” and the only representative from Miami (or Florida for that matter).
