QUICK HITS:
♦ We’re just three short weeks away from the start of Miami Spice! God hates Miami Spice, which is why he sends us hurricanes in August and September. But on the bright side, it is also nearly time for the Miami Spice Awards. Who will win Biggest Steak??? Vegas has Shula’s Steakhouse at even money but it’s anyone’s game (except those places serving a petit filet). Stay tuned.
♦ The folks behind World Resource Cafe, that familiar and oddly named Lincoln Road restaurant that closed its doors a year ago, will be opening a new restaurant in the Buena Vista neighborhood, just north of the Design District. The restaurant is called Shokudo and is expected to open in Spring 2012. According to their website, “[t]he restaurant’s new menu will boast a selection of all the quintessentials dishes from each of the major Asian countries…” I think we’re all excited to find out which Asian countries are “major.”
♦ Burger Beast has posted the menu for the new Shake Shack, which is set to open on Thursday (hold your horses, Shake Shack Incorporated says “opening soon,” but not quite Thursday–stay tuned) across the street from the University of Miami in Coral Gables. One of the new menu items is The “U” Malt, which contains chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough, and malt. If anyone can connect the ingredients to the “U,” we’ll buy you a Pooch-ini, Shake Shack’s dog treat.
♦ Finally, if you’re an astronaut who appreciates good espresso, here’s the espresso cup for you. (Hat tip: Uncrate)
