QUICK HITS:
♦ Anthea Ponsetti, the woman behind the so-good-you-wouldn’t-believe-they’re-vegan Om Nom Nom cookies, is the new pastry chef at The Corner, the popular bar on the corner of North Miami Avenue and 11th Street. No word yet on what sort of desserts to expect, or whether they’ll be exclusively vegan, but we’ll bring you more info as it becomes available. One thing is for certain: try the orange-zested chocolage chip cookies from Om Nom Nom, which you can find at Panther Coffee, The Newstand by Books and Books, and other spots around town.
♦ Food blogger Frodnesor has delivered his State of the Union address on Miami dining over at his Food For Thought blog. As always, he provides thoughtful commentary and historical perspective (which is a euphemism for saying he is old). Frod laments the loss of Sustain and Sra. Martinez but is optimistic about the current slate of new restaurants, including The Bazaar by Jose Andres, The Dutch, and Tuyo.
♦ In the last Quick Hits, we featured an espresso cup for astronauts. But if you’re a tea drinker, here’s an item for your Christmas list.
