QUICK HITS:
♦ Local internet sensation Super Miami Bro is taking the 305 by storm with his Tumblr full of animated GIFs. Miami restaurants are a recurring theme, including this musing on Yardbird, a post on Cuban restaurants in general, and, most recently, some much-needed venting about the announcement that David’s Cafe on Lincoln Road is closing.
♦ I was all ready to post about tomorrow night’s Miami Modern Luxury magazine event, To Live and Dine in Miami, but it is sold out. So I won’t say anything more about the reasonably-priced tickets (just $25) or that the event will be co-hosted by chef Daniel Boulud. I also won’t mention the many great restaurants that are participating, including Eating House, Edge Steak & Bar, db Bistro Moderne, The Dutch, Yardbird, or that proceeds benefit a great charity, Chapman Partnership (formerly Community Partnership for Homeless).
♦ Orlando falls well outside of this blog’s urban development boundry, but I still wanted to mention a dinner that might be worth the trip up the Florida Turnpike. Norman Van Aken’s eponymous restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando is hosting an anniversary dinner featuring guest chef Sean Brock on August 11th. Brock is the chef/owner of McCrady’s and Husk, both in Charleston, S.C. and both garnering tons of critical acclaim.
