As for how Miami fared, only Michael Schwartz (MGFD) made the cut. He’s a finalist for Best Chef in the South Region. Not making the cut in that category: Kris Wessel (Red Light) and Phillipe Ruiz (Palme D’Or).
Sam Gorenstein did not make the final list for Rising Star Chef of the Year. Myles Chefetz didn’t make it for Best Restauranteur. Hedy Goldsmith didn’t make it for Best Pastry Chef. Neither Eos nor Solea made Best New Restaurant.
In other words, not a lot of love for Miami this year. Our best kept secrets remain our own.
