April 6, 2010 Power Rankings

by Ryan @ MRPR on April 6, 2010

Time to get into your hot tub time machine, Miami.  The Forge reopened last week and Norman’s 180 is due to open in about a month.  Both restaurants are helmed by members of the Mango Gang, which is extremely ripe, if you get my drift.

Dewey LoSasso takes the helm at The Forge, having turned the lights out at North One 10 many months ago.  LoSasso’s menu was memorable at North One 10 (smoked salmon croquettas? yes, please) but the location didn’t do him any favors, especially with all of the construction up and down Biscayne Boulevard.

And as for Norman’s 180, Van Aken returns to Coral Gables, with his built-in fan base.  Having never eaten at the previous incarnation of Norman’s, I’m looking forward to checking out version 2.0 with an open mind.

Miami is a young city, of course, but it’s nice to see the return of old Miami dining.
