Chowdown Grill, From The Ground Up

by Ryan @ MRPR on April 8, 2010

It sounds like Chowdown Grill, the forthcoming restaurant in Surfside whose progress you can track on Facebook, will be continuing the new wave of chef-owned and PR-lite eateries (see, e.g., NAOE and Sakaya Kitchen) where the food speaks for itself.  It has all of the hallmarks of a cool neighborhood spot (including an accomplished chef).  Aside from one cryptic message that may or may not be the start of a gang war with Sakaya, I’m very much looking forward to Chowdown’s debut.

The chef/owner is a guy named Joshua Marcus, former executive sous chef at BLT Steak.  He gave some more info to Eater Miami (the pictures are pre-demolition).  The concept is Chinese with an emphasis on fresh and local.  And Surfside could probably use some new blood.  The buzzards have been circling.
