As I was cleaning out some old e-mails this morning, I stumbled upon an e-mail dated March 5, 2007 seeking a reservation for Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink the very first night it opened to the public, on March 13, 2007. Even from that first dinner, I think all 10 of us in attendance knew that it was going be popular for a long time to come. All of the decor hadn’t been hung yet, the room was freezing cold. And yet it doesn’t come as any surprise that its chef/owner would win a James Beard award three short years later. Congratulations.

Subject: March 13 Reservation?
I am emailing to see if you are still planning on opening on the 13th and, if so, whether I can make a reservation for a party of 10 people (if that large of a # is a problem please feel free to split us into two parties of 5). Please let me know if this is possible.
