It’s always fun to announce the opening of a new restaurant, especially where there’s some big name chef coming to town. For example: here. But it’s even more fun to look back through the archives at those promises of new restaurants and other gastro-gossip to see what never panned out.
Back in December of 2009, Eater Miami reported that, over at The Raleigh hotel on South Beach, “[r]umors of a major NYC restaurant and/or restaurant operator moving into the Raleigh are true.” In fact, the director of marketing could barely contain himself: “The rumors are true but I cannot disclose the name yet. [I am] truly excited about this venture, I can tell you that!”
Ten months later and still no major NYC restaurant at The Raleigh. Oops.
