UPDATE: Looks like we had the scoop on this one and my suspicions were accurate. Here is an update on November 24, 2009 (five days after our original post) from Miss Yip’s Facebook page:
Miss Yip Chinese Cafe: Let me introduce you to our new second location!! We will be located in the 900 Biscayne Bay building in Downtown Miami. Located in the middle of downtown Miami, 900 is a building like no other; a blend of cutting-edge architectural design, up-to-the-minute technology and upscale, five-star hotel-style amenities.
Introducing Unearthed, a new feature on the blog, where we dig deep and bring you information on restaurants that are in their incubation period (seeking permits, newly formed corporations/LLCs, etc.). Long before the public relations folks get their hands on these places, we’ll provide as much information as we can unearth.
First up: There is a newly formed LLC called “Chinese Cafe at 900, LLC” which lists as its managing member Carlos Doreste. Mr. Doreste appears to be the general manager at Miss Yip Chinese Cafe. It is clear that this entity is for a restaurant at 900 Biscayne because there is another entity called “Chinese Cafe Holding, LLC” that lists 900 Biscayne as the address where Mr. Doreste is listed as a manager and registered agent. The status is that they have applied for “permanent food service” license, which is still pending.
Conclusion: My money is on 900 Biscayne getting a Miss Yip or similar concept.
