QUICK HITS:
♦ The new power rankings will be unveiled on Friday, so no new rankings today. We’re moving from a weekly update to bi-monthly fortnightly updates on the 1st and 15th of each month. Other changes are in store (as you might have gathered from the obvious hint we posted yesterday).
♦ Gigi is expanding, according to a job posting on Craigslist. Here’s my unsolicited suggestion for the name of their new spot: Gigigi.
As for the location, a mix of sleuthing and guesswork leads to the following prediction:
Clue #1. There is a newly formed LLC for Gigigi: Gigi Village MB LLC. MB probably equals Miami Beach, right?
Clue #2. Just last week, Amir Ben Zion formed another LLC, Penn 17, LLC. Sounds like 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on Miami Beach, right?
Clue #3. There is some fancy retail space in the New World Symphony parking garage at … you guessed it, 17th and Pennsylvania.
Prediction: Gigigi is going to open up in the New World Symphony parking garage. Wallcasts are going to get a little more delicious.
UPDATE: A regular reader of the blog notes that “Gigi Village MB” probably is a reference to Mary Brickell Village. That is a much smarter prediction. Anyone have inside info on where Gigigi is opening?
♦ Miami Dade College’s new culinary arts program, Miami Culinary Institute, is having its grand opening on Thursday, with tours starting at 10am. The website has lots of info, including the announcement of their very own food truck called Alphabite. This is not to be confused with my new food truck concept Alf Bites, which serves grilled and fried pieces of 80′s sitcom star, Alf.
